The old Emeryville Warehouse Co., Emeryville, California
The old Emeryville Warehouse Co., pre-conversion, back when it still had character, and back when it was still inhabited by artists and musicians and people who treated the word "lifestyle" with a sneer… (1990?).

Those are evocative words. These buildings often become Self Storage businesses here or somesuch. That car, with fins, centre, is so retro, some of those are seen here as special one-off imports!

Evocative words indeed, especially because I knew people who lived and worked in the place before it was completely made-over into a luxury lifestyle loftominium complex (which none of them could afford to live in even if they wanted to), which itself was later defaced with a close-in set of condos in the parking lot shown above. Really nothing of the original look or feel of the place remains, unlike some of the better do-ups around here. Humph.

As for the car, I (unreliably) remember one of the tenants having an old car business there; in any case, you're right -- this old Woy Woy boy can remember an imported car like that being the centre of rapt attention in my childhood; special, indeed.
