The Park Street Bridge is a working four lane bascule drawbridge connecting Alameda and Oakland across the Estuary; it opens an average of maybe half a dozen times a day for larger vessels (at which point road traffic for miles around grinds to a halt ). It's one of four drawbridges across the Estuary in the area; this one was built in the 1930's. It has its own official web page here. (2007) |
