East 7th Street, Oakland
A bit of the older, pre "Arts District" Jingletown that's survived the gentrification: East 7th Street under a typical early morning winter's fog. I walk this little stretch of E7th between 23rd Avenue and 29th Avenue (a busy mixture of small-scale industry, older homes, and endlessly-idling double-parked trucks) several times a day on the way to Fruitvale or Kefa Coffee. A friend once called it "the dirtiest street in Oakland", which is an exaggeration, but it's got to be one of the untidiest and noisiest, especially up here around NorCal Seafood when they're unloading the idling semis and smaller trucks in the morning (December 2008).
